AN INTERSTING PERSON I KNOW

Image
Mr. A. V. B. Amarasekara, the former principal of my school is the person whom I respect as the role model of my life. So, I consider him the most interesting person I have ever met. He was the principle of Kaikawala Sri Rewatha Vidyalaya from 2016-2017.He was tall and handsome with a stern look but was very kind to each and every student of the school. He always dressed neatly, on every Monday, he stood at the entrance of the school from 6.45 a.m. to greet the students. When the maths teacher was absent, he taught us the subject more successfully than the teacher did. He was a counsellor more than a strict ruler, who patiently listened to students, grievances and tried to find solutions for them. He always tried to be a close friend to students, so they thought twice before turning to any mischief. There are many good qualities of him that can be written for pages.

A VISIT TO A FAIR

Image
It was the famous Sunday fair at Gonagala junction .My mother always makes it a point to visit this fair in order to buy the village products. Last Sunday I too accompanied her to see this exciting market. There were such a lot of vendors both men and women on either side of the road leading to this fair, seated with the fresh vegetables and fruits brought from their own villages. There were rare kinds of fruits and leaves which had medicinal value. The place was crowded with people and there was not enough space to move. Vendors were shouting and inviting customers to their stalls. There were fish, meat, vegetables ,fruits, pots and ornaments, ice cream etc.....The place was a hive of activity. It created the true picture of a typical village market.

A JOURNEY BY TRAIN

Image
It was the last vacation. We were to spend the whole vacation in Nuwara Eliya. My father had booked seats in a luxury train for us to travel up to Nanu Oya. We boarded the train at 5.30 a.m. from the Fort railway station. My parents, sister and brother joined this trip. We had breakfast in the train.  It was so enjoyable. The train was so comfortable as all the compartments were air conditioned. We could see the surrounding through the huge windowpanes. As the train approached the central hills, the climate became colder. We were travelling through the beautiful tea estates and the plantations of fresh vegetables. The cascading waterfalls among the green mountains were fantastic. I had never thought that our little island had so much of beautiful sceneries. Having passed all the wonderful natural places of beauty we reached the Nanu Oya station where we had to get off to take another vehicle to Nuwara Eliya. This journey was such an exciting experience which I shall never fo...

LET'S PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT

Image
Nature is the most precious gift given to mankind and it's his duty to protect it and show gratitude in return. Once the red Indian Chief Seattle said, 'Earth is our Mother '. He requested the White Chief of Washington to show equal respect that is shown to his mother, if he wanted to buy the Red Indian lands. With the industrial revolution that took place in the 19th century the whole world experienced the advent of modernization and its glory. With the advancement of technology all kinds of sophisticated machines and vehicles were invented. As a result, millions of factories came up destroying nature and affecting the lives of innocent animals. This crucial environmental pollution which is a by-product of the man of science and Technology, affected the environment directly. As a result of the growing population, nature had to be destroyed in order to provide the people with their needs. I f we could become eco conscious like the citizens of developed countries we could ...

SIGIRIYA

Image
Sigiriya is a very famous place in Sri Lanaka. Known as 'LION ROCK'. It is a large, tall rock that rises about 200 meters above the ground. Long ago, a king named Kashyapa built a place on top of this rock. The name 'SIGIRIYA' comes from the big lion statue that was once at the entrance of the place. Even though the statue is gone now, you can still see the lion's paws, which are very big and carved into the rock. Once of the most interesting parts of Sigiriya is the paintings, or frescoes, on the rock. These paintings show women holding flowers. Sigiriya is special not just because of its beauty, but also because of how it was built. Visitors today can climb the rock to see the rules of the place and enjoy the amazing view from the top. 💪💫

MY DANCING

Image
Dancing is a way to express my emotions without using any words. There are many types of dances, like hip hop, ballet and traditional dance, but I love freestyle dancing the most. Freestly allows me to move my body however I want, and I can create my own style. I learned dancing by watching Tv and practicing in my room. I often turn on my favorite songs and practice in my room. Sometimes, I make up my own dance routines. It's fun to combine different moves and see how they fit with the music. My family enjoys watching me dance, and they often cheer for me. I also attend dance every week. Dancing is happiness to my life. I lot of love it. 💖
